The Canon Digital IXUS 70 has 7.1 megapixel CCD, 3x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom (combination of 12x zoom) and produces images that have clear detail and which can be reproduced to poster size without reduction in quality. The technology of the DIGIC III processor produces quick response and excellent image quality whilst the iSAPS technology looks at each scene and ensures that the optimum settings are selected prior to a shot being taken.

For portrait shots the Face Detection AF/AE/FE automatically finds faces within the frame and selects the most suitable focus, exposure and flash settings to suit that particular scene.

The Canon IXUS 70 has a real-image zoom, optical viewfinder and images can be viewed on the 2.5" TFT LCD (100% field of view) and are stored as JPEG/Exif 2.2/DCF/DPOF and AVI, WAVE. The LCD has an anti-glare, scratch-resistant costing and red eye correction can be made during playback. Movies with sound can be shot as 640x480 at 30/15 fps, 320x240 at 60/30/15fps and 160x120 at 15fps.

Shooting mode choices include; auto, manual, digital macro, portrait, night and special scenes such as indoor, foliage, kids & pets, snow, fireworks, beach, aquarium and underwater. My Colors allows the application of in camera colour effects such as vivid (green, red, blue), neutral, black & white, sepia and lighter and darker skin tones. ISo sensitivity choices are auto, high ISO auto, 80/100/200/400/800/1600, White Balance has auto, daylight, fluorescents, tungsten, cloudy and custom and flash modes are auto, manual flash on/off. The Digital IXUS 70 has a shortcut button which gives one-touch access to favourite shooting options.

A rechargeable Li-ion battery NB-41 powers the IXUS 70 and battery and charger are supplied with the camera. SD/SDHC and MMC cards can be used and a 32MB memory card is supplied.
