With 7.2 megapixels, 7x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom (28x when combined), the Casio Hi-Zoom EX-V7 produces quality shots under a range of conditions. Still images are recorded as JPEG (Exif Ver.2.2), DCF standard, DPOF compliant with movies as MOV (H.264/AVC or Motion JPEG) with WAV.

There are twelve lenses in nine groups, including aspherical lens and the 7x optical zoom lens is non-protruding.

The Casio EX-V7 has functions for reducing blurring caused by hand shake or moving subjects. There is CCD shift technology and the Casio Anti Shake DSP which uses higher sensitivity and faster shutter speeds to reduce blurring and, even at high zoom, the Casio Exilim EX-V7 eliminates most image blur. A proprietary Super Life rechargeable lithium-ion battery (NP-50) powers the Casio EX-V7 which has a built in flash memory of approximately 11.6MB. There is also a card slot for SD/SDHC/MMC and MMC plus memory cards.

Focus modes include: contrast AF, AF assist light, auto, macro, infinity and manual, ISO sensitivity range is auto, 64/100/200/400/800 with maximum sensitivity of 1600 when Best Shot mode is engaged. White balance has auto, manual and 6 modes. Flash system includes auto, flash on, flash off, soft flash and red-eye reduction. The Exilim Hi-Zoom EX-V7 has a Super Bright 2.5" digital TFT colour LCD and various playback functions such as: still image (4x zoom), movie, resize, rotate, copy trim, favourites folder, flash assist and RGB histogram. Other functions are 9 image display, calendar and slide show.
