| The Nikon Coolpix S500 has a stylish compact stainless steel body with wrap-around grip for ease of use and is ready to shoot in 0.8 seconds.
Images are clear even when enlarged due to the 7.1 megapixel resolution and the 3x Zoom-Nikkor lens.
The Nikon Coolpix S500 also incorporates Lens Shift Vibration Reduction which is an image stabilisation system which also contributes to clearer images as it counteracts the effects of camera shake and shots taken in low light conditions. This system is active whilst the camera is on and automatically makes relevant adjustments.
Other COOLPIX technologies include; Face-Priority AF which locates and automatically selects relevant focus for faces, Red-Eye Fix which automatically counteracts any red-eye from flash and D-lighting compensates for under exposure. The Nikon S500 has an ISO sensitivity range of auto/50/100/200/400/800/1600/2000 and these can be selected manually or as automatic.
Images can be played back on the 2.5" TFT LCD which has anti-reflection coating and the Coolpix S500 is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery EN-EL10 which together with battery charger MH-63 is part of the package. The supplied battery has an approximate life of 180 shots.
Movies with sound can be taken - 640 at 30fps/320 at 30/15 fps and 160 at 15fps and the Nikon Coolpix S500 has an internal memory of approximately 26MB and works with SD memory cards.
