With 7.1 megapixel CCD sensor and 5x optical zoom the Olympus µ [mju:] 780 is capable of capturing a variety of shots. The powerful lens provides great results whether zooming in for that personal shot or taking landscape pictures and being weatherproof means that you can cover more situations than some other cameras.

The Olympus µ 780 has a built in dual image stabilisation system which, because it combines high ISO settings with mechanical image stabilisation ensures that blurring caused by hand shake or moving subjects is compensated for. BrightCapture is also part of the µ [mju:] 780's technology and offers the optimum performance when shooting in low light, the shadow adjustment technology will also make adjustment for any dark areas in images.

Still images are stored on the 15MB internal memory as DCF/EXIF/PIM/SPS/DPOF with movie recording with sound being stored as AVI Motion JPEG / WAV. The Olympus µ [mju:] 780 has a 2.5" HyperCrystal LCD and images can be viewed as calendar, index, slide show, zoom, rotation, histogram. Movies can be viewed frame by frame, in fast forward or reverse playback. Images can also be edited and choices include; black & white, sepia, attachment of frame or title and resizing. Movie quality includes; 640 x 480 at 30fps (16 seconds), 320 x 240 at 15fps and 160 x 120 at 15fps up to memory capacity.

The Olympus µ [mju:] 780 offers a choice of 22 scene modes where the most suitable settings have been prechosen to suit particular circumstances, these include; sports, portrait, landscape, night, sunset, fireworks, beach & snow and behind glass. ISO choices are - auto, 80/100/200/400/800/1600, White Balance offers overcast, sunlight, fluorescents and tungsten and the internal flash has auto, off, fill-in and red-eye reduction.
