| The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12 features the high quality Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens which ensures that a camera of this size can give excellent performance. With 3x optical zoom and made up of 7 elements in 6 groups including 3 lenses with 3 aspherical surfaces, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12 delivers exceptional optical results. There is a 4x digital zoom which when combined with the optical zoom gives 12x and 18x when combined with the Extra Optical Zoom.
The compact size of the Panasonic DMC-FX12 (94.1W x 51.4H x 24.2D) and its weight (125g or 153g with battery and memory card) means that it is very portable and can slip easily into a pocket or handbag and be available for those spontaneous shots. The camera is powered by a Li-ion battery pack and images can be stored in the built-in memory or on SD/SDHC/MultiMedia cards. Battery life is approximately 350 pictures.
The Panasonic FX12 has 7.2 effective megapixels and a MEGA Optical Image Stabiliser (OIS) which compensates for handshake blurring by detecting any movement and then moving the lens to compensate, thus producing clear images without any deterioration in quality. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12 also compensates for blurring caused by the subject moving, particularly useful when taking photos of children or sports. The camera can detect the movement and will raise the ISO setting and the shutter speed automatically, resulting in good quality prints.
There is an auto focus system, normal/macro (dial) and an AF Assist Lamp. White Balance options are auto, cloudy, shade, daylight, white set and halogen and ISO sensitivity equivalents range from auto/100/200/400/800/1250. The built-in flash system offers auto, auto/red-eye reduction, forced on/off, there is unlimited consecutive shooting and real-time histogram.
A choice of preset scene modes where the appropriate settings are automatically selected are available within the Lumix DMC-FX12 and these include; portrait, sports, night, food, candle, party, fireworks, underwater, snow, beach, baby and sunset. Images can be viewed on the 2.5" TFT LCD display which gives approximately 100% field of view and are stored as JPEG (Design rule for Camera File system based on Exif 2.21), DPOF and QuickTime Motion JPEG.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12 has a microphone and speaker and links with DC input, Video Output (NTSC/PAL) and USB and is PictBridge compatible.
Included within the package is a LUMIX simple viewer, PhotofunStudio-viewer-ArcSoft and USB driver and optional accessories include battery charger, pack and carrying case, AV, USB Connection and AC cables, strap and a CD rom.
